Gold Hill schedules open house Oct. 16 on zoning map updates ahead of planning commission hearing

City staff announced on Oct. 14 that the City of Gold Hill will host an open house on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber to show proposed zoning‑map updates and answer property owners questions.
"The open house is Thursday, October 16 from 4 to 7PM here in the Council Chamber at City Hall," the staff member said, instructing residents that maps and exhibits will be on display and that staff and planners will be at stations to explain how individual properties would be affected.
Staff said the zoning‑map project intends to realign property listings to match the land‑use code changes made in 2023, correct misclassifications and restore some previously eliminated subcategories (for example, some school and public properties now show up as high‑density housing in the current maps). Notices were mailed to affected properties using assessor data and the city will publish exhibits online as well.
The staff member said the planning commission will hold a public hearing on Oct. 29; ordinances implementing the map changes are scheduled to come to the council on Nov. 4. Staff encouraged residents who received notices to attend the open house and review the exhibits before the hearing.
The city also acknowledged that assessor mailing lists can be out of date; staff said they had followed up by phone when notices were returned. Additional details and the exhibits are available on the city website and at the open house.
