Hinton trustees decline to enter executive session on pending litigation; cases listed

At the Dec. 17 meeting the Town of Hinton Board of Trustees considered entering executive session under Oklahoma law for confidential communications with the town attorney about pending litigation but did not go into executive session after advice from the town attorney.
Attorney Kim Spady identified three pending matters noted on the agenda: Sugar Creek Ambulance District v. Town of Hinton (Case No. 2021-44, Caddo County District Court); Rhonda Johnson, Caddo County Clerk, et al. v. Town of Hinton, Sugar Creek Ambulance District, and Town of Binger (Case No. CV-23-89, Caddo County District Court); and The GEO Group, Inc. v. Hinton Economic Development Authority and the Town of Hinton (Case No. CIV-23-1014, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma). Following counsel’s advice, the trustees did not enter executive session and no confidential discussion was recorded on the public minutes.
The board later acknowledged the conclusion of the matter and returned to open session. No votes or other actions on the listed cases were taken at the meeting.
