Chair: draft zoning regulations sent to planning committee to establish basic protections

Chair told the board the town engaged consultant TSW to prepare a minimal draft of zoning regulations so the town can enact initial protections for land use. "So this is in best interest of all of our property owners here in town to make sure that we protect our neighbors," the Chair said, explaining the skeleton code will provide immediate safeguards while the planning and zoning committee finishes a full version.
The Chair said the draft was sent to the planning and zoning committee and that committee members will meet in the next couple of weeks to review and "hash the rest of that out." Board members also received the draft by email and were asked to submit recommended changes or concerns.
Chair further requested TSW prepare a cost estimate and task order to finish the town’s code of ordinances and subdivision regulations, which would set guidance on how developers apply and what the town expects of proposals. The Chair said the skeleton version is intended to be passed first to ensure minimum protections are on the books, with a fuller, detailed set to follow.
