Rural Economic Development of Inola board approves Jan. minutes, hears Sofidel expansion update and plans strategic review

The Rural Economic Development of Inola (REDI) board approved its Jan. 20, 2026, meeting minutes and received an update on a planned Sofidel expansion during a Feb. 17 meeting at 900 James Court.
President James Shaffer called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. and noted a quorum with members Donnie Chasteen, Scott Devers, Rosalie Griffith and Dora Remington present; member Nick Peery was absent. Dora Remington moved to approve the Jan. 20 minutes; Rosalie Griffith seconded the motion, which carried.
Secretary/Treasurer Rosalie Griffith reported there had been no activity on REDI’s account for several months and gave the current balance as "$36,462.08." The board did not take further financial action.
Member Scott Devers updated the board on the planned Sofidel expansion, saying infrastructure projects are included in the plans and will be needed to support anticipated future growth. The board discussed the infrastructure implications but did not take formal action or authorize specific projects at this meeting.
Members agreed REDI’s mission should be reviewed and that a strategic plan should be put in place; the board scheduled further discussion of a strategic plan for the March meeting. President Shaffer also raised the need for a public-facing website to provide information and reduce confusion for residents seeking details on local issues; the board did not act on website development at the Feb. 17 meeting.
With no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m. The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026.
