Wythe County accepts grants, approves sheriff vehicle transfer and clears $1.07M in invoices

At its July 14 meeting the Wythe County Board of Supervisors approved multiple grants, a budget transfer for vehicle replacements and authorized payment of more than $1 million in invoices.
County staff recommended acceptance of a $109,432 Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Victim Witness Grant for FY27; the Board authorized staff to accept the award. The Board also accepted a $4,500 Creative Communities Partnership grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts to support the 2027 Chautauqua Festival (the county will provide a matching $4,500). Emergency Services was awarded $82,577.70 from the Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) to purchase ambulance monitors; the reimbursement grant requires a 30% local match ($35,390.44). The Board accepted the RSAF award and approved the recommended FY27 budget amendment.
Separately, the Sheriff requested and the Board approved a transfer of $447,750 from the General Fund to a PAF account to purchase replacement vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office.
The Board also approved vendor payments and one wire transfer that together totaled $1,074,827.18, covering a long list of suppliers and service providers as included in the warrants report.
All motions related to these grants and payments were adopted by recorded roll call as part of the meeting’s consent and budget actions.
