Wythe County authorizes $32.7 million in FY2027 carryovers for capital projects

Wythe County supervisors approved on July 14 a revised set of FY2026-to-FY2027 budget carryovers totaling $32,711,899 to continue capital projects and unfinished work.
County Administrator Stephen D. Bear reviewed the revised numbers and explained carryovers fund projects that were not completed in the previous fiscal year or require funds to finish construction in FY27. The final carryover totals presented to the Board were: General Fund $9,004,352; Water Fund $19,176,431; Wastewater Fund $2,583,982; and School Fund $1,947,134.
Line items highlighted in the package included reassessment ($192,100), voting equipment ($100,000), connector road revenue-sharing county share ($2,242,776), courtrooms ($252,455), and various capital and water/wastewater project budgets. Mr. Bear recommended the Board authorize the carryovers and amend and appropriate the FY27 budget accordingly.
Supervisor Stacy A. Terry moved to approve the carryovers; Supervisor Bradley D. Martin seconded. The motion passed unanimously with all attending supervisors voting aye. The Board instructed staff to proceed with necessary budget amendments and to integrate the carryovers into FY27 financial planning.
