Hominy Public Schools board approves senior trip, audit contract and accepts principal's resignation

The Hominy Public Schools Board of Education met March 4, 2026, at the district administration office. Board President Jim Kunard called the meeting to order, and Fi Davis led the opening prayer.
On a motion by Board Member Fonda Reed, seconded by Fi Davis, the board adopted the meeting agenda and approved the consent agenda, which included the minutes of the Feb. 4 meeting, the monthly treasurer's report, the activity fund report, encumbrances (General Fund #243-259 and payroll change orders) and the third-quarter open transfer report. The motions carried on roll call with ayes recorded from Fanci Tucker, Fi Davis, Fonda Reed, Darrell Brown and Jim Kunard; no nays were recorded.
The board voted to approve the senior trip to Branson, Missouri, scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2026. The body also approved the 2025-2026 audit contract and engagement letter with Bledsoe, Hewett & Gullekson, and authorized the purchase of elementary lockers by approving the best-suited quote. Each of those items passed on motions by Reed, seconded by Davis, with the same roll-call pattern.
The board accepted the resignation of Robin White as Early Childhood Center principal, effective June 30, 2026. The personnel action was approved on a Reed motion, seconded by Davis.
The board declared the baseball scoreboard surplus property and approved a revised Cheerleader Code of Conduct policy for the 2026-2027 school year. The board also approved the employment of Clark Hill as a substitute teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
There was discussion of quotes for security cameras but no action was taken on that item.
Superintendent Cory Campbell reported that enrollment across the state is down and said federal programs may face a 20% cut for the upcoming school year. Campbell also announced upcoming parent-teacher conferences next Thursday evening and Friday morning, said district-wide testing will begin after spring break, thanked Jimmy Coon and Hunter Woods for work on the hitting facility, and noted the district website is live and undergoing updates.
Board President Jim Kunard adjourned the meeting after all agenda items were completed.
