Cudahy council approves licenses, certified survey maps, appointments and a motto change

The Cudahy Common Council on May 17 voted on a series of routine and administrative items, approving minutes, a consent agenda that included claims of $275,432.51 through April 30, 2016, renewal of liquor licenses and other permits, certified survey maps, mayoral appointments and a change to the city's motto.
The consent agenda passed by motion; the claims total listed in the minutes was $275,432.51. The council approved renewal of Class A and Class B combination liquor licenses and approved a Class B license for 5152-56 S. Packard Avenue for applicants Robert M. Moy and Andrew Anderson. The council also approved a request from Alex Ahmad to extend premises for July 15'16, 2016, and granted a run permit to Badgerland Striders for a Lake Drive run on July 31, 2016.
The minutes record a small number of abstentions on otherwise passing votes: for several license and minutes approvals Alderperson Hollenbeck recorded an abstention; in at least one approval Alderperson Litkowiec abstained. The minutes also record that Alderpersons temporarily left and returned to the dais during the meeting.
Council approved several certified survey maps (Resolutions Nos. 7035'7041) covering properties at addresses listed in the minutes, and adopted resolutions recognizing Neil White for 24 years of service to the Board of Health and Patricia Wisniewski for her service to the Board of Health (Resolutions Nos. 7043 and 7044).
During the public-comment period, Mark Lowry (3265 E. Whittaker Ave.) urged rebranding the City of Cudahy motto and announced a "Red-Nose Day" community event at Walgreens (5244 S. Packard Ave.) on May 26 beginning at 5 p.m. The minutes show the council approved a change to the city's motto and discussed forming an ad hoc committee to consider the idea.
The meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m. on a roll-call vote among those present.
