Public works (S8) reported that crews uncovered a leaking 0.75-inch water service with multiple pinholes under Main Street. "There is pinholes all over there and every time you touch the line, you get another one," the speaker said, describing the discovery and the need to replace the degraded line rather than repeatedly patch it.
Crew plans are to saw-cut and remove affected concrete panels, bore a new line down about seven feet under the storm sewer, and connect the service closer to the curb so future failures will drain to the storm system rather than the travel lane. The contractor will take out three panels near the damaged area and then Carl (contractor) will bore to the main; the council discussed scheduling the work for the coming week and packing and repaving after the line is replaced.
Council members emphasized careful packing and coordination with adjacent projects to avoid future settlement. Staff said the area should be backfilled and packed by the following week, weather permitting. No formal motions were required; the council instructed staff to proceed with repairs and to monitor for additional leaks.
