Council debated whether a staff trip to drive the vehicle home would save money but concluded that staff time and operational disruption could offset the savings. The streets budget was noted to have available funds; a member referenced an available $148,000 in the street budget and said the purchase could be funded without a special appropriation.
A motion to purchase the truck including hauling was made by Committee member (S6), seconded, and carried by voice vote. The council instructed staff to coordinate transportation and final logistics and to document the acquisition against the street equipment line.
