The Hobbs Municipal Schools Board approved a contract with B & G July 21 to provide required home-to-school transportation services. Staff said B & G won the original RFP in spring 2023 and has been the district's to-and-from provider since then; athletic and field-trip transportation were excluded from the contract.
Business officials also presented several RFP awards and procurement items, including a concession bid awarded to RC Taylor, a fine-arts/21st-century RFP award to Arnold Cardone, automated fuel services to KW Fuels, general legal services to Los Geogos, and therapeutic educational services to Chance Light. The board approved the business items and related budget bars.
Staff noted the athletic trainer RFP returned only one proposal from Advantage Health that represented nearly a 30% increase (about $113,712) compared with the prior year. Staff said they are negotiating a best-and-final offer with Advantage Health but may pivot to a Plan B if negotiations fail because no other bidders responded.
Board members approved the bus contract and business items on motions and voice votes during the meeting; staff will continue procurement negotiations where required.
