District updates board on school construction, roofing and $14M energy savings since 2008

Staff said the Public School Facilities Authority (PSFA) approved the district's application but that a memorandum of understanding and funding release have not yet arrived; the district is awaiting the MOU before federal/state funds will be accessible. Facilities updates included planned electrical and HVAC upgrades at Mills and Taylor elementaries (with roof repairs to be completed before HVAC work), major roof repairs at Hobbs High and Houston Middle, multiple door and flooring replacements, camera purchases for expanded coverage, and multi-campus furniture deliveries expected later this year.
Facilities staff highlighted district maintenance performance metrics, noting preventive-maintenance work-order percentages are a state performance indicator and reporting thousands of work orders completed. The presentation also cited cumulative energy-efficiency savings of about $14,000,000 since the district launched its program in 2008.
Board members asked about remaining timelines and funding; staff said roof and systems approvals are expected by December and that PSFA systems-based awards will be submitted once cost estimates are received.
