Board of Equalization lowers select property valuations after owner protests

The Dundy County Board of Equalization convened at 1:00 p.m. to hear property valuation protests. Scott McDonald contested the valuation of a storage unit; after discussion and a review by Brian Hill (Lake Mac Assessments) and Assessor Tish Burrell, the board approved lowering the value to $63,750 and McDonald accepted the change.
Elmer Case disputed the appraisal of his home and questioned why the depreciation percentage was reduced rather than increased. After allowing an interior inspection, assessor representative Brian Hill recommended a lower combined land-and-home valuation of $552,460; the board approved the revised valuation. Two other landowner protests were also resolved either by retaining the original valuation or by assessor adjustment. The board approved the damaged-property report and over/under valuation list and adjourned the Board of Equalization at 1:39 p.m.
