Council OKs surplusing old mower and authorizes inspection to buy $18,000 John Deere replacement

The council approved a motion to surplus an older Jacobson mower that has been unreliable and to allow staff to inspect a proposed replacement in Clark, a John Deere 1600 turbo series mower priced at about $18,000.
"I'd like to make a motion to surplus the Jacobson… and then send it to Weaman's," a public-works staff member said. Councilors discussed the broken-down unit and agreed staff should visit the seller and confirm condition before final purchase.
Council noted $18,000 is budgeted for a new batwing mower in the equipment line and moved to authorize staff to inspect and complete the purchase if the unit is in good shape. Council also requested attention to hydraulic wetness and other mechanical issues during inspection.
Separately, council received three bids for round bales and approved awarding the bid to Brandon Stall at $43 per bale.
The motions to surplus the old mower and to authorize the conditional purchase were approved by council voice vote.
