Maurice City Council approves agenda and consent items; June disbursements $36,941.57

The Maurice City Council voted unanimously at its July 21 meeting to approve the posted agenda and the consent agenda, which included the minutes of the June 16 regular meeting, the Treasurer’s report and the bills for payment.
Council member Roger De Weerd made both motions: first to approve the posted agenda, and then to approve the consent agenda; Council member William Korver seconded each motion. Each motion was recorded as passing on a vote of "All Ayes." Present for the votes were Mayor Randy Hoekstra and council members William Korver, Roger De Weerd, Sharon Vermeer and Isaac Holtrop; Cindy Larsen was absent.
The council reviewed warrants and receipts for June. Total disbursements listed were $36,941.57, including a $12,000 payment to Sioux Commercial Sweeping for street sealing, a $3,585 payment to IMWCA for workers' compensation insurance and payroll-related disbursements including wages and payroll taxes. Total receipts accepted for the period were $21,402.84; a $200 transfer to the Revolving Loan Fund was noted among the entries.
Public Works Director Jeff Van Der Weide provided a written report that the council reviewed. With no public commenters present, council member Isaac Holtrop moved to adjourn at 6:55 p.m.; William Korver supported the motion and the meeting was adjourned on a unanimous vote. The council’s next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Maurice Community Center.
