Planning and Zoning Administrator Gabell presented draft natural resources, agriculture and recreation components of the Priest River comprehensive plan update and the Phase 2 Data Summary and Existing Conditions Report at the Jan. 20 special meeting.
The presentation outlined the draft components and existing-conditions findings for the city’s natural resource areas, agricultural lands and recreational assets. Council members asked questions about how the draft treats habitat, public access to recreation areas and how agricultural land use is characterized in relation to future development pressures.
Gabell described Phase 2 findings and invited council guidance on refinements; the council discussed points of emphasis and requested further detail and follow-up from staff. Welch Comer provided a written project status update as part of the project briefing.
No formal action was taken on the drafts during the meeting. Staff indicated the Phase 2 report would be used to refine subsequent drafts and that the matter will return to the council for further consideration and potential formal action at a later meeting.
