Board of Equalization reduces several property valuations after owner appeals

The Board of Equalization met during the July 20 Dundy County Commissioners session to hear property valuation protests from several landowners.
Scott McDonald disputed the valuation of a storage-unit property and, after discussing his figures with assessor Brian Hill, the assessor proposed lowering the valuation to $63,750; McDonald accepted the revised figure and the board approved protest valuations by unanimous motion.
Elmer Case questioned a lower depreciation percentage on his home despite no upgrades; Hill inspected the interior and proposed a combined land-and-home valuation of $552,460, which the board accepted. Two additional landowners either retained their valuations or worked with the assessor to reduce them.
The board also approved the damaged/destroyed property report and accepted the assessor’s over/under valuations. The Board of Equalization adjourned at 1:39 p.m.; the regular commissioners’ meeting adjourned at 1:40 p.m. The next commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for Aug. 3, 2026.
