Coffee County Election Commission certifies voting machines, approves minutes

The Coffee County Election Commission on April 9 certified early-voting and absentee voting machines for the May 5, 2026 election after machine technicians completed logic-and-accuracy testing and printed zero tapes, the minutes show.
Administrator Andy Farrar reported that technicians completed the required testing, cleared each machine and printed a zero tape showing that “each machine and each candidate has a ZERO vote count to begin the Election,” and the commission certified the machines’ seal numbers and locked and sealed the units in preparation for early voting, according to the meeting record.
Commissioner Barbara Arp moved to approve the minutes of the commission’s March 10, 2026 meeting; Commissioner Emily Thoma seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by unanimous vote, the record shows. The minutes are signed “Respectfully submitted” by Secretary Barbara Arp and include an administrative note that the minutes were approved April 21, 2026.
Chairman William Bates called the meeting to order in the Election Commission office, Suite 6 in the Coffee County Administrative Plaza in Manchester. The record lists Commissioners Emily Thoma, Larry McIntosh and Carol Berthay and Administrator Andy Farrar as present. There were no public comments.
With no further business, the commission adjourned. The certified and sealed machines are recorded as ready for the May 5, 2026 election.
