The Beaver Crossing Village Board voted unanimously on June 10 to direct $50,000 each year from the village's 1% sales tax to fund a new Community Building for five years. Trustee Jere Leif made the motion and Trustee Ray Foreman seconded; the roll-call vote was 5-0.
The measure redirects a fixed annual portion of local sales-tax revenue into a dedicated fund to support planning or construction of a community facility. Trustee Leif told the board the funding commitment is intended to ensure steady local funding for the project while other financing and proposals are developed.
RFQs for the Beaver Crossing Community Building are due on July 17. The Village Board and the Building Committee will meet in a special session on July 30 at 7 p.m. to review proposals and discuss next steps. The board did not adopt a construction contract at the June 10 meeting; the motion approved only the five-year revenue direction.
The allocation is a local funding decision and does not by itself authorize spending beyond the commitment of sales-tax receipts; further approvals and procurement steps will be required before contracts are awarded. The board recorded the motion outcome as "motion carried 5-0."
