Mayor Susan Swartzendruber appointed Taylor Redding to fill the Vacant Hesston City Council seat created by Clare Moore’s resignation in February, and the council voted to confirm the appointment at its April 13 meeting. Larry Fuqua moved to confirm the mayor’s appointment with Kevin Logan seconding; the motion carried 3-0. The City Clerk, Valerie Bonham, administered the oath of office and Redding then took the council seat.
The appointment fills a seat left open earlier this year by Clare Moore’s resignation; the appointed term runs through Jan. 9, 2028. The motion record in the minutes lists the tally as 3-0 but does not record individual roll-call votes by name. After the oath, the minutes show Redding joining the council for the remainder of the meeting.
