Preston resident warns new development could worsen groundwater and landslide risks; Chamber gives monthly report

Corbridge said a surface drain pipe installed on 4th North in 2022 is not functioning properly, that a 30-by-30-foot landslide occurred on his property in September 2023, and that subsequent testing revealed high and rising groundwater flowing southwest. He warned that new development could exacerbate the problem and proposed extending a storm drain from Oneida and 3rd East as a potential mitigation.
Council members heard the comments but no formal action to require immediate mitigation was recorded in the meeting minutes.
