Cloud Lake says town hall exterior work is complete; vice mayor raises tree damage concerns at The Preserve

Cloud Lake council members said the exterior renovation of Town Hall is complete and the parking lot has been coated and striped, but they continued to discuss finishing touches and maintenance needs on Jan. 9, 2025.

Mayor Russ Nidy and council members described moving the flag pole and attached mailbox farther north into a flower bed, restoring the former entrance sign for display near the south flower bed, and doing edging and pressure washing of flower beds twice a year. Council Member Kathleen Hoock said interior work is still pending while the town awaits electrical estimates; Hoock also reported she researched door options (bi-fold instead of French doors) and Council Member Alexandra Powell-Sardinas suggested a roll-up garage-style door without an interior track.

Vice Mayor Marion Chateau-Flagg presented photos she said show six trees at The Preserve with deep gashes and missing bark after large mowers from Plantwell cut too close to trunks. Chateau-Flagg proposed placing physical barriers around the trees and placing Plantwell on a three-month probation while the town follows up. Mayor Nidy and Chateau-Flagg said they will meet with the contractor, identified in the record as Plantwell, and with an individual named Jared to resolve the matter.

No formal disciplinary action was recorded during the meeting; council directed follow-up discussions with the contractor and requested estimates for pending interior work before additional decisions are made.
