Alpharetta's council voted unanimously on July 20 to award a five-year contract to Tandem Mobility LLC to operate a five-station public bike-share program in the city.
Staff described the program and the proposed locations: Towne Green, Avalon, West Side/AlphaLoop, North Point Park and Rock Mill. The first hour of use would be free; subsequent time-based fees were described in staff materials. Staff said the program is a public—private partnership: each station carries an annual sponsorship commitment of $12,000; the city's share would be $12,000 annually with partner sponsorships expected to cover the remaining $48,000 of the approximately $60,000 annual budget.
Tandem Mobility was the top-ranked proposer from two respondents and staff recommended awarding the contract; council approved the award and authorized memorandums of understanding with local partners, including the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau and True North 400, to support station sponsorships.
Council members praised the proposal and discussed potential expansion once the system is operational; staff said additional stations may be added in five-bike increments.
