Woodburn officials report generator maintenance, water leak repair and broadband bores

The Woodburn Board of Works and Public Safety received routine operations updates at its June 1 meeting. Superintendent Walls reported the city has scheduled Evapar for its biannual generator maintenance, confirmed a recent water leak on Main Street has been repaired, and said County Community Motor Grant (CCMG) projects are progressing.
Walls told the board that Lakeland Internet's bore crews are active throughout the city as private broadband infrastructure is installed and that Ash Street sidewalk repairs are planned but did not provide dates or funding details. The superintendent's report also noted ongoing routine maintenance work; no formal votes were taken on these items.
Mayor Kelsey raised constituent concerns about Frontier Internet sales practices, saying the city has been addressing related complaints. Kelsey also informed the Board that an interlocal bridge agreement with the Allen County Highway Department will be considered at an upcoming City Council meeting; no action on that agreement occurred at this Board meeting.
The updates reflect routine infrastructure upkeep and coordination with private contractors and county partners. The board did not set implementation deadlines for the sidewalk work or the hydrant repainting discussed later in the meeting. The Board of Works meets next on June 15 at 5:30 p.m.
