Kiowa Public Works Authority approves $71,717.98 bid for raw water generator; town to pay about $7,800

The Kiowa Public Works Authority on Oct. 30 approved the lowest bid from Native Energy Services to supply a raw water generator for $71,717.98, with the town’s out-of-pocket expense reported as about $7,800.
Engineer Robert Vaughan reported to the Authority that bids had been received and noted the town’s expected out-of-pocket cost was much lower than anticipated. D. Drake moved to approve the Native Energy Services bid; T.S. Barker seconded. The motion carried with M. Sexton, T.S. Barker, T. Horn, D. Drake, J. Hasty and K. Burgett voting yes and J. Ray recorded absent.
The approval follows routine discussion of the water plant. D. Drake noted that a representative from DEQ identified as Vance met with Daniel Dibble and visited the lagoons; the DEQ representative "offered up a good report," the Authority was told. Separately, Engineer Robert Vaughan said the Town has a permit for the lagoons on file, that a notice has been sent for publication and that after publication the Mayor will sign documents and a letter will be sent to the landowner before the information is forwarded to DEQ for their records. No formal action on the lagoons permit was required at this meeting.
The generator purchase was entered on the meeting record as a formal motion with the vote recorded by member. The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
