Soda Springs council approves Enders Building repairs, hears Second South and bore updates, and funds community partners

The Soda Springs City Council on April 15 approved maintenance work on the Enders Building, received multiple public-works updates about upcoming utility projects and trails, and approved a modest supplemental contribution to a community forecasting partner.
Director Dan Squires asked the council to approve two repairs to the Enders Building'a concrete decorative border repair and a silicone/elastomer fill where the sidewalk meets the building'with quotes of $3,490 and $644.90 respectively. Squires said funds are available and recommended moving forward; the council approved the repairs.
Squires also reported that a decorative rear streetlight at the Enders was backed over; an identical replacement ordered from the manufacturer will cost about $8,000 in materials and the owner's insurance is expected to cover it after a police report and camera review.
On transportation work, Squires relayed Idaho Transportation Department scheduling for the Second South project: the utility contractor plans to begin work April 27, with road work likely by late June or early July. Staff completed door-to-door outreach to affected properties; Squires said 18 property owners signed, three declined and four remained outstanding. He said most concerns were about minimizing inconvenience and that staff will provide email updates and weekly informational videos when the project intensifies.
For the South Second East bore, Squires said Rail Pros has the project tentatively scheduled for May 18; the water-fill station at the RV dump will likely be offline during boring and staff plan temporary hydrant access to support users during that period.
Squires provided an update on Ledger Creek trails: the upper loop trail surface is prepared and a 100-by-200-foot parking area is planned; final work and planting depend on Army Corps approvals for the lower area.
The council also approved a $500 supplemental contribution to 4-CASI to help fund the local forecasting coordinator in addition to the regular $3,000 contribution and offered City Hall office space; Clerk Andrea Haderlie and Mayor Paul Gritton praised coordinator Molly's grant-writing efforts, including the power-study grant.
The meeting concluded with a community cleanup announcement and adjournment.
