The Gilford Conservation Commission used its June 2 meeting to review budget items and other ongoing work in addition to permit business.
Vice‑Chair Gary Geoffroy went over the operating budget and correspondence. Members discussed why a line for milfoil removal has not been used; meeting notes indicate the commission has relied on an herbicide product (transcript spelling corrected to ProcellaCOR) that members said attacks the entire plant and root, and the body discussed options for future management. No formal decision to allocate funds was taken; the item remains on the agenda.
Geoffroy also updated members on the Lakes Region Conservation Trust’s Weeks Conservation Easement, saying he had not yet discussed the dedication with all businesses but that Wayne Hall (Carole Hall’s husband) expressed support for dedicating the easement in Carole Hall’s honor. The commission left items such as ‘‘Reboot your Natural Resource Inventory,’’ establishing a knowledge base of property and procedures, and a potential hire on future agendas.
Robert McDonald reported talking with Ben Crawford of the Laconia Water Department about the Black Brook and the old Getty station cleanup; Crawford told McDonald the department has not yet received a response from the state on that matter.
The commission voted to enter non‑public session under RSA 91‑A:3 II(d) to discuss acquisition, sale, or lease of real or personal property; a roll call was taken and the motion carried unanimously. The commission later exited non‑public, reported that no action was taken, and voted to seal the non‑public minutes. Abby Thompson Fopiano moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 p.m.; the motion carried with all in favor.
