The Hesston City Council on May 11 approved a series of routine appointments, contracts and purchases.
Council approved Ordinance No. 060-2026-006 to re-establish the Hesston Municipal Golf Park Advisory Board and confirmed mayoral appointments to that board: Brad Lunsford (term to Dec. 31, 2026), Tim Page (term to Dec. 31, 2027), Ed Thiessen (term to Dec. 31, 2027), Chad Fuqua (term to Dec. 31, 2028) and Tara Logan (term to Dec. 31, 2028). Michael Wallace moved to approve the ordinance and the slate of appointments; motions were seconded and each vote carried 5-0.
Other approvals recorded in the meeting: confirmation of Gerry Selzer to the Hesston Public Library Board to fill an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2026; confirmation of Tim Sweigart as the city’s representative to the Harvey County Economic Development Board for a two-year term beginning May 2026; approval of a 2026 fireworks production contract with Rainbow Fireworks, Inc. for $7,500 with authorization for staff to issue the required 50% deposit; adoption of the Multiple-Occupancy Private Space Management Policy as presented; and approval to purchase a John Deere Aercore 2000 aerator from Precision Turf Products for $12,000.
