Kiowa council roundup: votes on minutes, finances, ordinances, street repairs and schedule

At its Oct. 30 meeting, Kiowa council approved meeting minutes, financial and purchases reports, a $225,000 cap for street repairs, re-adopted and amended ordinances, set the 2026 holiday and meeting schedule, adopted codification of ordinances, and scheduled a special meeting for Dec. 1.
The Town of Kiowa council approved a range of routine municipal items and several formal actions at its Oct. 30 regular meeting.
The council approved the minutes of prior meetings; accepted the August 2025 financial report (Tracy Reed of RSMeacham CPA & Associates noted sales tax lagging but use tax $6,000 above projections); and approved the August purchases report. The council re-adopted and directed advertisement of an ordinance concerning Roy Hatridge and re-adopted and amended the ordinance for Mary Trammell to correct the legal description.
Council approved hosting the Children's Christmas Party on Dec. 12, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center and approved the Town of Kiowa 2026 holiday schedule and the regular monthly meeting schedule. The council also adopted and enacted the codification of ordinances (attorney had signed off); the ordinance book will be housed in the law library with copies in City Hall, and the council scheduled a Special Meeting for Dec. 1 at 1:00 p.m. to address additional ordinance issues.
On infrastructure and purchasing matters, the council reallocated funds for a skid steer back into the city's budget and approved a bid for street repairs (Highway 69 to Harper Valley Road) not to exceed $225,000. The meeting concluded with the council adjourning at 8:30 p.m.
Where votes were recorded, motions passed with four members voting yes (M. Sexton, T.S. Barker, T. Horn and D. Drake) and one member, J. Ray, absent.
