Kiowa approves $48,500 bid for firing range improvement

Trustee D. Drake reported that the Town solicited three bids for the project but received only one. J. Wilson, a staff member, said the required advertising had been completed and that the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) indicated it has no requirements related to the firing range. Engineer Robert Vaughan said soil testing would be required only if the Town later decided to sell the property.
On a motion duly made by Trustee D. Drake and seconded by Trustee J. Ray, the Board approved the bid from Roy Hatridge for $48,500 for material and labor necessary to complete construction of the shooting range. The vote recorded J. Ray, T.S. Barker, T. Horn and D. Drake as voting yes; M. Sexton was absent.
The decision follows the Town's solicitation of multiple bids and resolves the immediate procurement step for the project. The minutes do not specify a construction start date or funding source beyond the bid approval.
The Board took the action during its special meeting at Kiowa City Hall and adjourned at 2:25 p.m.
