Krebs council designates remaining ARPA funds for museum roof and community center

The Krebs City Council voted on Dec. 17 to designate remaining American Rescue Plan Act funds for repairing or replacing the museum roof and for the Gene Heathcock community center to preserve those federal funds before an apparent deadline.
Councilman Dan Heathcock moved to designate the leftover ARPA funds and required that the city engineer develop drawings and obtain three bids. "We can designate, I'll make a motion that we designate the money for that," Heathcock said; the motion passed unanimously.
Council members discussed timing: David Bailey warned that if the designation is not completed by the deadline the city could lose approximately $80,000–$90,000 in available funding, and Mayor Tommy Ray Walker said an onsite estimate for the roof repair was roughly $96,000 based on a brief inspection.
The council approved the designation with a stipulation that the city engineer prepare plans and bids; members said they would submit the designation documentation to meet federal reporting requirements and then pursue formal bids and construction scheduling.
