Property owner seeks rezoning in Krebs; commissioners table decision pending map review

John Moyer asked the Krebs Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 1 to rezone Lots 6–9 in Block 202 from C-1 (commercial) to R-1 (residential), saying the existing commercial designation could complicate planned work on his house.
"I was concerned I might run into trouble when I wanted to add a room addition onto my house," Moyer said, explaining that he owns the half-block from the alley forward and that the area surrounding his property appears residential.
City clerk Cindy Cooper told the commission that a review of records showed sporadic past spot zoning, with isolated commercial lots scattered among residential parcels. Commissioners said that history means the board should verify zoning maps and records before changing a designation.
Commissioner Larry Coxsey moved to table the rezoning request until members could examine zoning maps in more detail; James Garigin seconded. The motion carried 4–1, with Commissioner Richard Cotton opposed.
Chairman Mark Moy noted the commission will revisit the item next month after conducting a site review and verifying the official map and past rezoning actions. No formal rezoning was adopted; the application remains pending further review.
