Council allows temporary closure of S. Main for Sept. 28 community event

The Krebs City Council on Aug. 20 approved a request to temporarily close a portion of South Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. for a community event that organizers described as a concert with food trucks and vendors.
Organizers Brayden Sexton and Joshua Dollins told the council the event will be primarily indoors but requested the street closure to accommodate vendors and safe crowd movement. Council members discussed the potential for alcohol sales and public-safety staffing. Chief Dennis Cook said the police department would respond and arrange overlapping shifts; organizers and vendors would need the appropriate licenses and permits for alcohol if any vendor intended to serve it.
Councilmember Connie Poole moved to approve the closure. Jason Wagnon seconded and the council voted to approve the request with the three council members present voting yes. The council directed organizers to coordinate with the police department on any security needs and reminded vendors to obtain city permits for alcohol sales if applicable.
