The City of Krebs KUA board voted 4-0 on May 6 to award a $147,130 contract to Lone Hickory Cattle LLC for repairs to the Krebs Lake dam spillway after Fox Engineering recommended the low bidder.
Steven Fox of Fox Engineering reviewed four bids for the project and recommended Lone Hickory Cattle LLC, which submitted the lowest bid of $147,130. Fox said he has worked with the contractor before and cited prior projects, noting the contractor “always shows up with a capable crew.”
Board member Dan Heathcock asked where the project funds would come from. City Clerk Cindy J. Cooper said “the extra dollar on everyone’s water bill goes into a special account for repairs such as this,” which the board used to confirm funding availability.
Chuck Nelms asked where the contractor is based; Fox said Lone Hickory Cattle LLC is in Talihina. After the recommendation, Heathcock moved to award the contract to Lone Hickory Cattle LLC provided Krebs has the funds; Larry Coxsey seconded. Chairman Tommy Ray Walker called the vote. Heathcock, Sherri DeFrange, Chuck Nelms and Coxsey voted yes and the motion passed 4-0.
Fox described the administrative next steps: the city will send a notice of award, the contractor has 10 days to provide bonding and insurance paperwork, and is expected to start within one month with 60 days to complete the work. The board adjourned following the vote.
The agreement covers replacement and reinforcement work described by the engineer, including replacing the wall, heel and toe, reinforcing the concrete wall and specified rebar and keyways; Lone Hickory Cattle LLC was the lowest of four bidders. Specific bid documents and the full contract will be executed after required bonding and insurance are submitted and the mayor signs the contract.
