The Town of Trent Woods Board of Commissioners decided on Sept. 8, 2025 to offer the town’s police chief position to applicant David Oglesby, approving an annual salary of $81,924.00. Mayor Charles F. Tyson, Jr., called the special meeting to order at Town Hall to interview candidates and complete related business.
After conducting interviews, the board "decided to offer the position to David Oglesby, one of the 3 applicants," and "agreed to offer Mr. Oglesby $81,924.00," according to the meeting record. Mayor Tyson asked Police Chief Tony Lee to contact the other interviewees to thank them for their time and to facilitate the completion of the necessary appointment documents as soon as possible.
The meeting record notes attendance by Commissioners Billy Joiner, Shane Turney and Dan Murphy, Finance Officer Brenda Reece, Sheriff Chip Hughes and Special Agent in Charge Pat Raynor, with Town Clerk Holly Willis; Rich Schreiber, Maintenance & Zoning Supervisor; and Attorney Aaron Arnette listed as excused. The special meeting began at 3:00 p.m.; a motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Dan Murphy, seconded by Commissioner Shane Turney, and the meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
The Board’s decision to extend an offer to Mr. Oglesby was recorded in the minutes; the transcript does not record a roll-call vote or list a mover/second for that specific personnel action. Chief Lee is tasked with notifying the other candidates and completing the paperwork needed to effect the appointment.
