Brenda Reece, the town’s Budget/Finance Officer, presented the proposed FY2025–2026 budget to the Town of Trent Woods Board of Commissioners at a May 13 special meeting, outlining 13 points that include personnel pay changes, benefit and retirement cost increases, and several capital projects. The proposed property tax rate was left unchanged at $0.17 per $100 of assessed value, with an estimated town tax base of $944,500,000 per the Craven County Tax Office.
Reece told the board the budget does not rely on any appropriated fund balance and would use $351,127 from the Capital Reserve Fund to fund near‑term projects while requesting an additional $525,000 in Capital Reserve funding to accumulate funds for future work, including drainage. Department heads each presented their budgets and answered questions; the board did not take formal action on the budget during the meeting. The meeting adjourned at approximately 11:30 a.m.
