City Recorder Amy Szilagyi gave the council an update on short-term rental (STR) permitting and compliance. As of Dec. 31, nine permits were complete; 8–9 applications remain pending additional information; and staff identified 10–15 potential STRs for further review. Szilagyi acknowledged map accuracy questions and said staff will continue outreach and follow-up with operators.
Szilagyi reported that $190,000 reflects total transient lodging tax (TLT) collections since the city gained access to the data; she said additional compliance could increase revenue. The council asked about enforcement options; Szilagyi said she will research Oregon Department of Revenue enforcement mechanisms and report back. Councilor Lindemyer will assist by providing addresses of known STRs not on the compliance map.
