Planner Jaime Crawford told the council Mosier received a $45,000 grant from the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development’s Housing Accountability and Production Office to prepare housing-related development code amendments. Crawford said recent state housing laws left many communities out of compliance and the grant will fund targeted code work to simplify and streamline local rules so residential development can be permitted in accordance with state requirements.
Crawford requested Council consider appointing a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to advise on the project over the next 25–50 years; she asked councilors to identify community members who could serve and said staff would prepare a written scope describing the TAC's mission, expected deliverables, meeting schedule, and time commitment. City Manager Andrea Rogers and Councilors emphasized the need for a carefully scoped project that fits the $45,000 budget and asked staff to return with a clear scope and meeting plan.
