"The City Of Raleigh's Impact Grant, we were fortunate to be able to fund a really important project for G2's Playhouse, which is Juju's Blooms and Juju's Studio, providing opportunities for our adult participants to be able to have meaningful work opportunities, internships, learning customer service, sales, production," Ramsey said.
Ramsey said participants are gaining hands-on experience and, in some cases, are moving on to run their own businesses. She described program activities that include plant production, retail and customer-service training intended to create sustained income pathways.
Ramsey urged other organizations to apply for Impact Grant funding. "If you have this chance and you're clear about what the impact is that you want to have, don't underestimate your idea. This is how things take off," she said.
