Magistrate affirms multiple unpaid parking citations; respondents absent

The Town of Ocean Ridge presented five parking citation cases during the special magistrate hearing on July 7 alleging vehicles parked in areas posted for town business or without the required decal. Christy Gatta, appearing for the town, put the matters forward and officers testified to photographic evidence and ticketing. "We cannot park any vehicles whatsoever on Old Ocean without a pass," Officer Sasso testified in the hearing record regarding one of the citations.
In each case the respondent was not present. Special Magistrate Amity Barnard found the respondents in violation of section 54-2 of the town code where the evidence supported the charge, affirmed the unpaid $40 citation amounts and ordered assessment of the town's prosecution/administrative costs as requested by staff, payable within 30 days. The magistrate entered the town's composite exhibit files into the record and noted certified/mail or posting service where shown in the file.
