Commission approves revised unity-of-control for Ocean Club and Edwards Ocean Ridge property

The Town Commission voted to approve a revised unity-of-control agreement between the Ocean Club of Florida Inc. and Edwards Ocean Ridge LLC that will allow the Ocean Club's redevelopment to proceed first and bind future owners of the Edwards property at 6855 North Ocean Boulevard. Christy Gough, speaking on behalf of the town, said the new unity will be executed and recorded "before Ocean Club moves forward" and will "remove the internal boundary between the 2 properties" while recognizing existing cross-access easements.
During public comment, resident Terry asked for clarity about project timing and whether the town could require periodic status updates; Terry said earlier estimates ranged from two to three years and worried projects might stretch to six years. Commissioners and staff noted that recording the unity now would bind future owners but that actual construction timing depends on the property owners and the market. The commission approved the motion to adopt the revised unity-of-control; the chair announced the motion carried.
