City staff told the Carencro City Council on July 20 about several near‑term projects and community events: a posted park grant RFP, Pelican Park’s partnership to host a USSSA national tournament, an imminent City Hall renovation, and a nearly complete new city website.
Chief Administrative Officer Purvis Morrison said the RFP for the park grant was posted July 18 and July 27, 2026 with a bid opening scheduled for Aug. 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Mark Olivier reported that Pelican Park has partnered with Lafayette Tourism Group to bring a USSSA national tournament to Lafayette and surrounding areas, and he said the Independence Day celebration had been a ‘‘huge success.’’ Lynn Guidry said construction on City Hall renovations will begin July 27, 2026 and is expected to last about one year. Jackson with Brand Russo presented a visual of a new City of Carencro website and stated the site would be fully complete in the next two weeks.
Council did not take a separate vote on these reports; they were presented for information and to coordinate next steps and schedules with staff and contractors.
