City utility and public‑works supervisors reported multiple operational updates at the July 20 Carencro City Council meeting, including a substantial count of planned meter replacements, drainage maintenance and storm‑related impacts.
Utilities Supervisor Maureen Guidry told the council the department has been unable to collect fees for damaged endpoints and that there are 96 gas‑meter replacement work orders due to aging equipment. Water Supervisor Buster Broussard reported 18 water‑meter work orders were completed and said wastewater complaints resulted from lift stations on St. Anne Street that were struck by lightning. Gas Supervisor Seth Darbonne said crews excavated approximately 2,500 linear feet of ditches and removed debris from drainage canals to restore water flow.
Assistant Police Chief Trent Walker advised residents and businesses to "continue to follow local weather alerts for the disturbance and have a plan in place," emphasizing preparedness as the area works through ongoing utility repairs.
