City manager Dave McNeil used his report to recognize city staff and to summarize ongoing recovery and capital projects following a recent storm event that caused power outages, a water-main break and a sinkhole.
McNeil introduced new lead city engineer Lee Redinger and described city crews’ around-the-clock response. Jeremy reported that the sinkhole repair was complete following mobilization by Domi Construction and a short procurement for replacement pipes. Destin and Leif provided project updates: North Dakota Street is approaching the end of paving with final touches remaining and a tentative opening imminent; the 8th Avenue/Roosevelt intersection remains partially closed while coordination with the railroad and grade-raising work proceeds, which could affect the schedule.
McNeil also reminded council of an Aug. 3 meeting to present the 2027 budget and proposed an Aug. 17 work session to discuss license-plate-reader technology tied to a body-worn camera contract with vendor representatives and a state DCI agent expected to participate. Council thanked staff for recovery efforts and accepted the project updates.
