River Ridge to deploy speed radars, consider golf-cart signage after traffic assessment

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the draft Traffic Calming Assessment 2025, describing Tier 1 and Tier 2 strategies and early education-based road, bike and golf-cart safety measures implemented by Mr. Conway. Staff said speeding violations have decreased and that three permanent and one mobile speed radar signs will be placed across the property in the first week of February.
Mr. Eric Long asked Krebs to update the report to include the Traffic Study conclusion on page 9 and asked board members to flag additional areas for attention. The Pelican Sound Board is reportedly considering amending its traffic-violation bylaws. The board agreed with Krebs's recommendation to remove an overgrown landscape shrub that obscures a speed limit sign at 21800 Southern Hills Drive; Mrs. Adams will notify the resident who raised the concern.
The assessment also discussed community outreach such as Safety Saturday events and nontechnical issues (residents walking and bicycling in streets), and staff will evaluate signage for crosswalks and golf-cart passing restrictions.
