Residents press River Ridge to include Lake 8 stormwater fixes in next budget

Resident Rich Batterberry, speaking for Oak Run homeowners, asked the board to consider work similar to recent Seaside repairs to address rainwater pooling from the monument to mid-Lake 8, saying some residents worry water is reaching foundations and one homeowner incurred significant mitigation costs.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs said the Seaside area had not been re-graded previously and that similar regrading could address the Lake 8 condition. Board Chair Bob Schultz said the matter would be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process. Separately, in the unaudited financials discussion, Mr. Eric Long said the 10-year forecast will include the Lake 8 stormwater management project, asphalt and gutter repairs, and replacement of aging irrigation pipes.
No formal action was taken at the meeting to authorize immediate repairs; staff were directed to obtain cost estimates where applicable and to include the project in upcoming budget deliberations.
