Board sets work plan for Sharon Meadow; brush clearing to start after snowmelt

Board members reported that no work was done at Sharon Meadow before the snow and outlined clearing and mowing plans for 2026. Erik Skarsten, Malcolm McShinsky and Kevin Gish explained meadow locations to visitors and said they will clean stumps and debris in preparation for August mowing. "KG will coordinate with MM and/or ES to clear brush from the Sharon meadow as soon the snow melts enough to allow the work," the board recorded.
The 2026 work plan also listed invasive-plant treatment follow-up, with evaluation after the May invasive-plant information event, and several signage tasks. Kevin Gish said he will install a 'No Motorized Vehicle' sign where snowmobiles and four-wheelers had entered the forest; the sign will match the one at the main Ashley Forest entrance. No formal votes were recorded on capital spending or gate installation.
