Strafford Historical Society proposes roadside marker for Robinson District; ACF board seeks research help

David Paganelli introduced Stephen Wilbanks of the Strafford Historical Society to describe the Robinson farm's historical significance and a proposal for a roadside marker. Wilbanks said the society's curator, Simone Pyle, could conduct research if directed and that state historic markers have an age requirement that he could not precisely state; he distributed a handout with state requirements. "Robinson farm has been featured by historic society," Wilbanks said, and he described prior contacts with the Strafford road foreman and with John Dumville (SoRo) about marker placement.
Board members asked what form of research the Ashley Community Forest should seek. Paganelli suggested assistance gathering land-ownership and use history for the Strafford parcel similar to materials previously obtained from Ken Wright in Sharon. Michael Sacca emphasized that the focus should include agricultural history and usage, not just ownership. The board did not make a formal decision but discussed next steps for coordinating research between the historical society and board volunteers.
