Commission to add John Sears memorial quadrant and visitor information kiosk at Downer Forest

At the March 9 meeting, the Sharon Conservation Commission recorded plans to install a four-quadrant kiosk at Downer Forest. The commission asked Luis Bango to contact the Sears family for an 80–90 word write-up and photographs about John Sears and his contributions, especially to outdoor education and the cross-country ski program. The kiosk will include a memorial quadrant, Forest, Parks and Recreation (FP&R) information on current forest management, history about Charles Downer, and Leave No Trace visitor guidance.
Sam Brakley will submit the materials to Brian Renfroe of FP&R for printing; the minutes also note a faded memorial posterboard at the site will be removed. The commission did not set a firm installation date in the minutes; follow-up is assigned to Luis and Sam to collect and forward materials.
