Troi Perkins takes lead for Green Up Day; commission plans May 2 drop-off and lunch

Dick Ruben passed Green Up Day leadership to Troi Perkins for 2026, and the commission agreed to partner with Sharon Connects to host trash and recycling drop-off with a lunch-in at Sharon Church on May 2, 2026. Troi told members she has emailed an order with Kate from Green Up Vermont and is working to secure dumpsters for tires and scrap metal and to coordinate truck access and garage parking with the town road foreman.
The group discussed volunteer staffing and timing. Troi proposed running assisted drop-off 8:30 AM–12:00 PM and allowing independent drop-off afterward by leaving a truck accessible at the garage or moving it to the Park and Ride. Troi also proposed a raffle (one ticket per bag of trash) to be drawn at the lunch; Dick provided contact leads for soliciting raffle items. Scott Chesnut suggested outreach to Nicola for a selectboard banner and further promotion via the Town Office, listserv, library, and Sharon Connects.
